NSFAS Allowance is an independent South African public-information resource maintained by higher education journalists, student finance researchers, and policy analysts. Our goal is to explain DHET student funding rules, accommodation caps, the N+1 academic progression rule, and allowance distribution in clear, student-friendly language.
If you have identified a recent DHET circular update, an outdated accommodation ceiling, or have suggestions for our student allowance calculators:

NSFAS Allowance is strictly independent and is not the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), the DHET, or any university/TVET college.
To protect your personal safety:
- DO NOT email us your ID number, student number, myNSFAS login credentials, OTPs, or bank account details.
- We cannot approve funding appeals, allocate housing, or disburse monthly cash allowances.
- For personal application tracking and official account updates, log in directly at my.nsfas.org.za or call the NSFAS Contact Centre on 0800 067 327.

Can this site disburse or check my personal NSFAS allowance?
No. NSFAS Allowance is an independent informational guide. We cannot access myNSFAS or university financial aid systems. Please log into my.nsfas.org.za or visit your campus Financial Aid Office.
